2011 Schedule

Following is a tentative schedule of events for 2011 (events in italics are particularly tentative). Events marked with an asterisk (*) will have One Design starts for J24s and/or J29s, and offer the best head-to-head sailing you are going to find in these parts. Other events just may interest you because of where they are or just because they can be a lot of fun.

* J24 Season Championship Event

  • Teams Score Best Four Events – Points stay with the ‘person(s) in charge’. This allows for fractional ownership teams, teams that charter boats or those that otherwise have multiple boats available for use. Teams score their four highest events; the cumulative score is that team’s season score.
  • Reverse Point Regatta Scoring – Points are awarded for overall regatta finishes in reverse order. Winning an event will award a team points equal to the total number of boats scored. Second place will be awarded points equal to total boats -1, and so on.
  • Eligible Regattas – Points will be awarded at any Atlantic J/24 regatta that meets the one design criteria in their Notice of Race. This includes a minimum of five J24s registered, to have a class specific start and sail windward/leeward courses on multiple, consecutive days. National level or higher events held in our district will not be eligible for scoring in the season series. Results and the NOR must be submitted to the District Governor.
  • Eligible Teams – The ‘person(s) in charge’ must be current members in both the Canadian J/24 Class Association and the Atlantic District to have their team eligible to be scored in the series. Teams are also required to participate in at least two ‘away’ events to be eligible for the season series. ‘Away’ events are defined as events that are 50 kms or greater from your home club.

* J29 Season Championship Event

  • Five regattas, best four to count
  • Points scored on the basis of boats beaten (i.e., high score system)
  • If a boat does not attend a regatta, finish is recorded as number of competitors in Season Series plus one
  • Regattas must have at least five J29s sailing as a one design class to qualify
